Since the World War I took place in neutral Belgium, between 1914-1918, it did effect the family. His brother Jean Hubert was sent to Congo, Africa and to date his date of deceased still unknown. Georges Jules Sindorff, the son of his brother Frans, Guillaume's cousin was killed at age 18 in combat at WW-1, and many unknown date of deceased within the family and possibly a half brother :Lourens may have given many complications in this powerful family. A million Belgium refugees flat to the Netherlands, a total of 5.5. million WW I death at allies and 4 million at centrals, including 600.000 Belgium death involving civilians, militaries of all nationalities, entrance in the military and colonial campaigns must have played part.

Guillaume worked at the jewelry shop(s) that his father Frans may have set up or took over making clocks, watches and Guillaume has expanded the shops into a jewelry chain. Driven and ambitious between freedom and regulation in this middle class movement.

At the age of 24 Guillaume lives in Leuven, next to Halfmaartstraat or Rue mi-Mars 11 (grey building) and is a Clockmaker. His nextdoor neighbour Anne Marie Philippine De Petter, a housewife who was married, passed away on 13 September 1893 at 13:00. Guillaume has reported the decease at Town Hall. It looks like that Guillaume's father Frans has changed the hour work of a clock, around Guillaume's birth on Rue Maline in 1870, the clock is from a time around 1730-1760 in so called Rococo style, from Meissen, most likely by inheritance of Michael Syndorff or Sindorff from Dormagen, who seems to have been married twice, with Caecilia Boes in Dormagen and with Anna Gertrudis Lepelmans in Bracht (this branch). The clock went with Henri Bernard Sindorff, a cousin of Guillaume to Australia just after the end of the 2nd World War and placed on an auction for sale. The father of Guillaume Frans was a uncle of Henri Bernard Sindorff. A precious family in heritage piece.
