Around May 1913 Frans designed a church with the first skyscrapers in the background, unknown in the Netherlands and not always feasible at this scale due to mostly the ground conditions. Home Insurance Building in Chicago, US is considered the 1st skyscraper in the world built in 1885. Frans had extensive knowledge.

Franciscus Raimond Henricus Sindorff, in French François Raijmond Henri Sindorff was born in Venlo, the Netherlands (Europe) on 4 January 1880, deceased in Apeldoorn 4 November 1952, being the second child of his father Karel Antoon Hubert SINDORFF (1841-1896) and his mother Anna Gertrudis Hubertina BLOEMEN (1853-1931). Siblings were his older sister Antoinetta Marie Wilhelmina Sindorff (1878-x), his younger brothers Karel Henri Hubert Sindorff (1882-1884) and Jean Joseph Wilhelm Sindorff (1889-1936) and his younger sister Maria Anna Carolina Sindorff (1891-1969).

The family lived during the time that the 1st World War, between 1914-1918, took place, even though the Netherlands was neutral, living so close to the Belgium border the family must have experience effects, and during the 2nd World War between 1940-1945 Frans lost his cousin Jan Karel Sindorff, the son of his brother Jean J.W. Sindorff, his own son Karel divorced, might also have been the reason of selling his home in Hoendeloo or to invest it the businesses set up by his children and youngest son, Frans, still missing (enlisted N.R.O/I.T.S.) and did effect the family.

At the age of 12, after primary school, Frans is following Pro-Gymnasium in Venlo, some results published in the news papers 20 August 1892 and on August 18, 1894. Frans enjoyed playing his role in the comedy "Das Landhaus an der Heerstrasse", had a sense for religion and biblical history, the Dutch language and algebra and won a price for declaiming which is "reading poems with feeling and often reciting them by heart. When declaiming, the speaker tries to convey the meaning of the poem through certain intonations. The meter is often also pronounced with some emphasis" .Frans indeed enjoy poetry, Chinese poetry is as part of his legacy.

At the age of 19 Frans is reporting at Town Hall to arrive from Kerkrade in Zundert where Frans was educated or following training to become a priest, however, the vocation to the priesthood is a choice of God's grace, and went back on 27 June 1899 to Venlo.

In the academic dissertation 1955 written by Johanes Joseph Dellepoort on this page "Priest in Holland", it is written (p37) that the regulars, ancient orders, in order of foundation, contemplatives O.C.R. - Trappists are located in the abbey of Zundert.

Nl.wikipedia says: "Trappist beer, or Trappist for short, is beer brewed by Trappists, monks of the Cistercian order. So it is not a type of beer, as is often thought, but a description of the origin. The name "Trappist" is derived from the French abbey from which the Trappist order takes its name: Notre-Dame de la Grande Trappe Abbey.

According to the rules of the International Trappist Association (IVT), the conditions to be allowed to use the name "Trappist" and the associated logo "Authentic Trappist Product" are the following[1]:

Products must be produced within the monastery walls or in the immediate vicinity of the abbey;
Production takes place under the supervision of the monks or nuns;
The proceeds are intended for the needs of the monastic community, for solidarity within the Trappist Order, for development projects and charitable causes.
There are ten Trappist breweries worldwide: five in Belgium, two in the Netherlands, one in Austria, one in Italy and one in England."

It is known within the family that Frans was dedicated to the priesthood and yet became thereafter architect and married. Unknown if the start of the abbey in 1899 of Maria Toevlucht, Rucphenseweg 38 in Klein-Zundert, also O.C.R. between Zundert and Schijf, at that time a swampy area, played a role in the choice to become an architect and designer of church(es), the portfolio published on this blog page after the time Frans passes exams, was once said to be named the St. Jan's church in 's Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands, likely used as inspiration.

At the age of 23 in 1903 Frans passed his exams as Construction Supervisor enlisted by the Maatschappij tot Bevordering der Bouwkunst.

nl.wikipedia.org: "The Society for the Promotion of Architecture was a trade association for architects, founded in 1842 and converted into the Association of Dutch Architects in 1919". "In 1908 the Bond of Dutch Architects was founded" and merged. Currently the official name is B.N.A. Branche Association Dutch of Architects.

The Great grandparent of Frans, Cornelis Sindorff from Germany, (Mühl)Bracht (Mulbracht/Brüggen) (1774-1850), baker(y) Lomstraat, Geldersche Poort in Venlo, married 1796 Venlo Anna(e ) Catharina(e) Kuijpers (Cuijpers) (1769-1825), daughter of Peter Kuipers, Cuijpers (1733-1774), son of Joannes (1696-1748) and Catharina Winnings (*-1763) and Anna Gertrudis Raemaeckers, Ramakers, Echt, (1733-1809) daughter of Willem, Wilhelmus Ramakers (1689-1774) and Helena Theunissen)

On 15 November 1913 Franciscus opens a shop on Meeuwenlaan 39 in the north part of Amsterdam. Published in "De Waterlander, 1913-11-15, p3, 1913-11-22,p 4 and 1913-12-27, p4. Fransciscus was running a trade in groceries, grocer's and related items.

In 1918 Frans is registered at the general book of professions and companies of all towns, registered at Meeuwenlaan 39 in Amsterdam coming from Rotterdam Dijksstraat 70a (destroyed in 1940 by German bombing).

Since 1920, at the age of 40, appointed as municipal official for architectural work in Rotterdam and Amsterdam were Frans was involved in the construction of Leidsebosje, Amsterdam, to turn the tram around and also in Amsterdam in the first waste incineration as well as under P. Cuypers, the main architect, in the building of a wing of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, who still does not appear to be relatives in direct line, since,

Frans marries in Rotterdam on Wednesday 31 October 1906 with Anna Maria Hagemeijer They divorced from table and bed according to the military records 1939 of their son Frans. Anna was a small and delicate lady, had mentioned in the family about a 'black sheep", which is to believe and could very well be cousin Lawrence, Lourence Sindorff, possibly the son of Frans's uncle also named Frans, the brother of his father, who lived in Brussels or the son.

Could it be the reason why Frans made a drawing of a church with skyscrapers? Cousin Lawrence went with his legal family to the USA Chicago at the age of 1 year and the first skyscrapers were build in Chicago: the Home Insurance Building.

Anna was born in Amsterdam on 10 May 1879 and they lived at various addresses in Amsterdam, on Da Costastr. 107, Jan van der Heijdenstr. 228 en Amstelkade 131 Amsterdam and deceased 15 December 1970, being a daughter of Hendrik Jacobus Hagemeijer, not in direct line with the famous and wealthy international trade brothers, born Amsterdam 24 March 1852, smith, line smith, who marries Amsterdam 12 June 1878 (ref. R'dam 1906), Anna Maria Borra, gen. 9.23e, Amsterdam born 5 November 1852, maid, deceased Amsterdam 30 July 1924.

From this marriage:

  1. Anna Hendrina Elisabeth Sindorff (1907-1992) unmarried

  2. Antoinette Caroline Maria Sindorff (1908-x) marries Willem Albert Jan Mesland,

  3. Maria Jacoba Francisca Sindorff (1910-1988) marries Albertus Antonius Meijer.

  4. Karel Hendrik Raimond Sindorff (1911-1985) marries Helena maria Cornelia Beekveldt.

  5. Frans Hendrik Jacob Sindorff (1916-N.R.O/ITS registered) unmarried

In the record of his son Frans Hendrik Jacob in 1935 for military service it is recorded that Frans was living separate from his wife.

Frans made some publications and comments in public." red. Uit liefde voor het volk: volkskundigen op zoek naar de Nederlandse identiteit 1918-1948" expressing his thoughts and feelings.

It is not a surprise that Frans lived in Apeldoorn at the end of his life, the episcopal seminaries is located in Apeldoorn and close to his own home in Hoenderloo.

Only old pictures of the original are left to date

Family moving from Hoenderloo for work elsewhere.

During the II world war, Frans was appointed as neighborhood chief for aid, also to mothers, including winter aid that was initially for all people set up by German example called the Dutch or Nederlandse Volksdienst (NVD) in 1941 as counterpart of the German National Socialistic Vokswohlffahrt. "The NVD had to take the place of the numerous private charity organizations that existed in the pillarized Netherlands and would eventually include all social assistance, social work and paramedical care. The organization was based on Nazi racial theory and only took care of people who were 'hereditary biologically' healthy. The NVD worked closely with the Winter Aid and, like this organization, was not a success."

Clearly inside the "Dertien Linden", one of the at least two paintings Frans made of his house in Hoenderloo. The first painting is missing; a soft toned yellow/green small sized, around 30x40, painting of the house. The kitchen painting was sold on an auction in Beverwijk and never heard a reply by the selling agency, 2018. Beautiful light typical for Frans's work.

"Dertien Linden" (De Krimweg 72 Hoenderloo) around 2022, the thatched roof replaced with tiles, added a new 'kangaroo" wing, The pond in frond of the house and the trees are gone. The house is built on a mound (terp/turph/dorf) with an indoor bunker. The current residents still remember the Sindorff family well; son Karel H.R. Sindorff went back to the house at old age with his sister, most likely Rie who passed away three years later, before his deceased because of the wonderful pleasant time or childhood.

Attempt to sell "Dertien Linden" issued 19-06-1940 in De boerderij, weekblad (weekly paper).

Why the house was named "Dertien Linden" or "Thirtheen Lime Trees" is unclear. Franciscus build and named the house as the 'Dertien Linden" or The "Thirteen Lime trees" and is not what a Linde tree really is. Maybe Frans was referring to an ancient Linde tree in Lorch, nearly 1000 years old, named the Barbarossa Lime tree and maybe each lime tree stood symbolic for a generation. It seems likes a statement. On Dutch wiki a lane in Berlin was named Unter der Linden and the story tells it was a lane of Pruisian kings and German emperors or maybe the Thirteen Linden has been a referral to the 13th century when Henry VII was the last king of the Holy Roman Empire in the line of succession.
