Lourens Sindorff, also named Lawrence, born 14 October 1871 in Haarlemmermeer, the Netherlands (Europe) deceased (7 May) 5 July 1952 in New York (USA) being a third child of his legal parents Johannes SINDORFF and Aafje KIEVIT. Siblings in this blended family were his older sisters Guda Sindorff (1867-1955) and Margje Sindorff (1869-1936) and his younger sisters Cornelia Maria Sindorff (1873-1956) and Carolina Augusta Sindorff (1875-1951) and youngest brother Willem Sindorff (1878-1880).

There are some indications to believe that Guillaume François Hubert Sindorff, Willem Frans Hubert Sindorff (1869-x), François Hubert Sindorff (1871-x) and Jean Hubert Sindorff (1876-x) may have been his half brothers, children of Elisabeth Hubertina Bloemen (1837-1880), daughter of Herman Francis Bloemen and Maria Margaretha Biddelo (1794-1869), not the similar named E.H. Bloemen (1820-1905), from the first marriage of Frans Peter Hubert Sindorff (1843-1910) who secondly married Josephina Maria Hubertina Thissen (1849-x) possibly the biological mother of Lourens.

At the age of 1 Lourens leaves the Netherlands with his family to New York , USA, with final destination Chicago. "J. Sindorff" and family message New York, 19 December 1872 in the Algemeen Handelsblad issue 5 January 1873: that they 'kapitain E. Deddes thanks for the good journey from Rotterdam to New York', per steamschip Maas; 1st depart 20 Nov.1872, arrival 19 December 1872, passengers list Maas, archive 36.2.2,M237B,roll #370 1314 frame 343 FHL 0175726

It is initially this advertisement wherein the family leaves a message behind along with the boarding list that has lead to the hypothesis that Lourens may have travelled with his biological mother. J. Kievit which may have been an alias for Josephine Maria Hubertina Thissen since sister Jantje Kieviet, date of birth 1824, deceased 1837.

Josephina is 24 of age in 1872 matches the shipping list of 'Jantje" the spinster to become Mrs. J. Sindorff nearly 10 years later on 26 July 1881 in Roermond by marriage with Frans Peter Hubert Sindorff. In the thank note to the captain they refer as "familie" or 'outside family' not as 'gezin' "inside family'.

The military exemption of Lourens in the Netherlands, as he is the only son of Johannes Sindorff confirms that Johannes Sindorff and Aafje Kievit are not the biological father and mother. It states father "unknown" and mother "Haarlemmermeer". The question arises if the couple Sindorff-Kievit ever had intentions to become the legal parents of Lourens.

A report on an upcoming birth was registered in Brussels (Ch La, Child Laurens?). Deregistration Haarlemmermeer (1860-1879) it shows that family left in 1872, according to record, to Chicago has left  BR-depart USA.,

Also registering family Haarlemmermeer 1880-1899, from which it appears that  Laurens with only his mother (and her other children) is living at her parents upon return to Holland, without Johannes who possibly stayed in America, BR-from USA.
